Via Lom and Grotli we reached Gamle Strynefjellsvegen, an old road over the Strynefjell pass. It´s not the direct way to Geiranger, but it´s worth the diversion! Here the remaining snow at the side of the road was even higher than at the Sognefjell road.

While the eastern part of the mountain range is steep and bare of any vegetation apart from lichen the west side soon welcomes you again with lush greens and bubbling mountain streams. The serpentine street of Geirangervegen leads to the view point Flydalsjuvet, from where the first views to the fjord open.

In the top right area the zigzagging Ørnevegen can be recognized

Impressive views can be caught from Ørnevegen too.

For the return journey we chose the new road to Grotli and later we built up our tent in Otta. The following picture was taken at app. 11 p.m. - and the sun was still up...

The next day we would definitely go back to Sweden. =>
