On our last day in Edinburgh we payed an extended visit to the Castle.

At the Royal Palace the
Honours of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny are on display. St.
Margaret's Chapel is the oldest part of the castle dating from the 12th
century.

The daily firing of the
One O'Clock Gun is watched by a crowd of tourists and is accompanied by a bagpipe player.

After the castle visit we walked
through Grassmarket and along the foot of Castle Hill to the New
Town, where we followed the Water of Leith Walkways to Stockbridge.
Despite its reputation we could not find anything especially charming
in this part of the town.
