The day started with a very bleak morning and so we decided to try our luck at the east coast.
Through Glen Carron and Strath Bran we headed for Inverness. We
stopped at the Rogie Falls south from Loch Garve to look for leaping
salmon. We even did spot some but had not been able to take pictures.

In North Kessock at the Beauly Firth we were looking quite some time for the Dolphin
and Seal Centre. When we finally found it we discovered that it was closed for lunch.
So we decided to head for Fortrose to visit the lighthouse at
Chanonry Point, which has a reputation to be an ideal spot for watching
dolphins. Since the wind and the rain had both grown stronger when we
arrived at the car park our hopes were not too high. However, with some
patience and a good eye we could spot some bottlenose dolphins - even
one pair of mother and calf.

In the evening we had an excellent dinner at the Plockton Hotel with scallops and a venison casserole.
